Chief Watersports Instructor/ Activity Assistant


May – September (Peak Season: July-September)

Job Summary

Working under the Chief Watersports Instructor in this hands-on role, you will be a water sports instructor with a difference… added kitesurfing. You will teach on kite weeks as well as teaching local kite tuition.  You will be working on the beach with other staff when not teaching kitesurfing. You need to have a fun, enthusiastic teaching style and be ready to encourage people to get on the water.

Key persons who you will be working with include the Senior Instructor, Activities Manager, and Assistant Manager.

With up to 75 people per week of various ages/abilities/backgrounds at the club, good social skills along with patience are paramount. Flexibility in the job role is required as you are likely to undertake duties that are outside your normal role.


  • Deliver BKSA standard kitesurf sessions in a safe and fun Environment
  • Helping with the set-up of the beach and equipment at the start of the season and the layup at the end of the season. Long hours and hard work are expected throughout these periods.
  • Understanding the companies Risk Assessments and Health and Safety procedures and working to ensure they are continually adhered to throughout the season.
  • Work as part of a small team to pro-actively assist all guests both on the beach and on the water.
  • Day to Day maintenance of all equipment on the beach.  Check all kit is in good working order. Reporting to Chief Watersports Instructor over spares and repairs.
  • Working closely with local suppliers for the provision of services.
  • Deliver the daily inclusive tuition clinics and any 1-1 tuition throughout the week (including on the water excursions/fun races).
  • Help organize and host some evenings; help always deliver briefings and interact with guests.

Job Requirements

  • BKSA Kitesurf Instructor
  • RYA Power Boat level 2
  • Previous teaching experience desirable
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Boat maintenance knowledge advantageous
  • Skilled safety and water rescue techniques
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Clean and tidy appearance
  • Competent Swimmer
  • Good Team Member
  • Over 21 years of age and hold a UK National Insurance and Bank Account
  • Valid UK Driving License (desirable)
