Beach Fitness Holidays Q&A With Fitness Is.
We’ve recently announced our September Fitness Holiday, in partnership with Fitness Is. and Willpower Fitness. For our latest blog, we decided to have a sit-down Q&A with Issy Wood of Fitness Is. to chat all things fitness, beach holidays and Kefalonia.
Hey Issy, so first things first, tell us a bit about yourself and Fitness Is.?
“Hi, I’m Issy, I’m 23 and I live in the beautiful South Hams.
I love being active and leading a healthy lifestyle so it was a no brainer for me to do my PT qualification. I absolutely love working as a personal trainer and fitness instructor for many reasons, but here are a few…
1. It doesn’t feel like work!
2. I love helping other people to feel amazing, reach their goals and gain confidence!
3. It is so rewarding seeing my clients improve and start to love fitness as much as I do.
When I’m not working or training I love to go to the beach for walks with my little pup Rusty, my boyfriend Will and my lovely family.”
And what is it that you love most about fitness and working out?
|“I love how exercise makes me feel from start to finish. There is no feeling like the one you get after you’ve really pushed yourself in a workout and I love how easily you can improve when you put your mind to it. I am still working 9-5 in an office until I can make Fitness Is. my full-time job so I really look forward to leaving the office and heading down to my uncle’s gym, Willpower Fitness, which is nestled in some nearby woods, it really helps me clear my head and gets those endorphins after being sat down for most of the day.”|
Come September 21st, you’re packing your bags and heading for our Lixouri Bay Beach Club in Kefalonia… What are you looking forward to about the Beach Fitness Holiday?
|“I am so excited to be back in Kefalonia, I absolutely love it! I am really looking forward to the hit sessions down on the beach. This is something I’ve wanted to add into my regular routine for ages!”|
For anyone who’s not too into their fitness, but fancies joining us for a Beach Fitness Holiday, will they need a good level of fitness to begin with, or will there be something for all abilities?
|“The workouts will cater for all ages, fitness levels and abilities wherever possible. I will programme a mixture of individual and team workouts, so there will be a chance to share the workload and make some new friends too.”|
What’s the rough itinerary looking like for the Holiday in Kefalonia?
|“Lots of fitness, plenty of watersports, lots of yummy healthy food and lots of fun in the sun!”|
In terms of the early morning workouts, what will be the focus for the sessions?
|“The morning sessions will be a mixture of cardio (run/swim/shuttles) and callisthenics (squats, press-ups, burpees, air ups, lunges, etc). Combining these elements through various forms (intervals/endurance/high intensity) over different time domains will target all energy systems with high calorific output. The total full body workout in an amazing environment, for optimum health and wellness!”|
Each day the group will also have the chance to enjoy some sailing, windsurfing and paddle boarding. When It comes to being out on the water, What’s your preferred Sport?
|“I’m definitely a paddleboarder! I didn’t take to sailing very well on my other trips to Kefalonia, but I know there’ll be a great bunch of Trek Adventures instructors on the beach, so perhaps I could try and learn with everyone this time!”|
Yeah, you’ve been out on a few Trek ADventures Holidays! What would you say is the appeal of a Trek Adventures beach holiday?
“There is something for everyone at Trek Adventures. The beach clubs are fully kitted out with paddle boards, dinghies, kayaks and catamarans, so you can get out on the water. There are the beautiful swimming pools with loungers, if you just fancy chilling or you can arrange to have a guided walk to explore the area some more!
I also love that the company is run by an amazing family with a wonderful team of staff who are always there to help!”
And overall, what do you like most about holidaying in Kefalonia?
|“Kefalonia feels like my home away from home! It is so chilled, always hot and has the most beautiful beaches, people and food… I couldn’t ask for anything more on a holiday!”|
