Fancy a sailing holiday in Kefalonia?

Myrtos

The widely-acclaimed Myrtos is definitely a must-see when visiting Kefalonia. It is probably the most well-known and beautiful beach on the island. Its dramatic scenery and crystal clear waters are incomparable to many beaches – dare we say, in the world! Enjoy the staggering views from the top of the surrounding cliffs or walk along the white pebble beach – whatever you decide, Myrtos will offer you a truly unique experience.

Antisamos

Just south of Sami, sits the wonderfully rustic and tranquil hideaway of Antisamos. The beach was made famous by Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, and has since become a major attraction. Like Myrtos, the beautiful Antisamos is very popular and maybe prone to an overhaul of tourists. However, this beautiful part of the island – with is golden beaches and lush greenery it is not a location to be missed.

Petani

A truly magnificent beach, and situated just 20 km west of Argostoli – the capital of Kefalonia – Petani draws people in with its clear blue waters and stunning scenery of huge green cliffs that cascade into the sea. The path leading to the beach is a spectacle in its own right, and the water here is deep and waves are usual big.

Xi

Unlike many of the beaches on the island Xi is renowned for its ease of access. There are no steep cliffs or deep waters – which may be more suitable if you have young children or elderly. One outstanding feature of Xi is its impressive soft red sand – said to have naturally cleansing and tightening effects on the skin! This beach is prominent among watersports enthusiasts and offers a range of activities.

Foki

Foki, situated five minutes outside the busy village of Fiscardo, is regarded as one of the most picturesque spots in Kefalonia. The many olive trees scattered around provide shade and somewhere to relax in the heat of the day. Foki is good place to go seal spotting (Foki is Greek for seal!) and also a hotspot for its numerous caves and coves. Enjoy some peace and quiet and soak in the gorgeous atmosphere at Foki beach.

Skala

With a combination of crystal blue waters and striking vegetation that grows all the way to the sea, Skala has grown in popularity over the years. On the southern tip of Kefalonia near Mounda bay, sits the small fishing village of Skala. The beach is long and sandy, bordered by dense hills and rocky cliffs. This beach is a snorkeler’s paradise with many islets and isolated coves to explore. Skala has also been awarded a Blue Flag for its cleanliness. There is something uniquely captivating about this beach, and that’s why it has become such an attractive location.

Lourdas

17 km south-east of Argostoli, the quaint coastal settlement of Lourdas stands on a hillside overlooking the sea. This beach has it all – from luscious green to stunning blue water and white sand, to waterfalls and a mountainous backdrop. Lourdas is easy to reach by public bus.

Vouti

If you’re looking for total calm and serenity then look no further. Vouti is a beautiful sandy beach, ideal for those looking to escape the crowds and enjoy some peace. Although the way back up can be steep, this beach is totally worth it!
